sort, file, shred

August 26, 2008

In another life, I think I was a secretary or a librarian. I have always loved organizing, whether it’s sorting my sock drawer or alphabetizing CD and books. It’s a love dating back to childhood when one of my dreams was to be a principal’s assistant.

This week, I’ve been slowly going through my piles and piles of work and life files, tossing and shredding what I don’t need and finding a place for those I do. The process has been surprisingly invigorating and satisfying. And as my work space gets tidier, I feel like my whole body and mind are breathing a sigh of relief.

  • I run a darling, friendly, little graphic design studio.
I make things and then I sell them.
I take photos. Lots of photos.
I wish on stars and on websites.

  • I built my first web site 7 years ago and got 15 seconds of fame. (It changed my life.)
I launched, then relaunched, an online magazine.
I admitted to several embarrassing crushes.
I consumed more bacon than any human should and lived to tell the tales.
